CoQ10 is an important component in the energy producing system of the body. It is found in mitochondria, subcellular structures responsible for generating about 95% of the total energy needed

by the human body. CoQ10 is the enzyme that makes this engine work. Its antioxidant activity protects cell membranes, proteins, and DNA from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.

CoQ10 as ubiquinone is a fat soluble nutrient. In order for a fat soluble nutrient to be absorbed, fat must be present. Experts highly recommend that it be taken with other fat soluble nutrients (e.g., vitamin E, lecithin, borage oil, evening primrose oil, EPA, flax seed oil, etc.) and/or with a meal that contains a small amount of fat. Fat free meals significantly decrease absorption of ubiquinone.
